Room to Be: a part of Dundee's Community Garden Network

If you've not heard of Dundee's vibrant Community Garden Network yet then you're missing out. This is the stuff of environmental, community-led, grassroots dreams. A utopian glimmer of what a world of collaboration, skill-sharing and connection can look like. Dundee is a city of gardens. Once you start looking, you see them popping up everywhere. Not just parks and allotments, but community spaces that offer so much more than just a growing space.

The Community Garden Network brings all of these gardens and people together for skill-sharing and collaboration and to help support and promote what its members are doing. Room to Be is proud to be a part of this network.

At the most recent gathering hosted by the Maxwell Centre in Hilltown, we were given a whistlestop tour on how to make the most out of the iNaturalist app for recording garden wildlife, signed up to help support a growing for natural dyes project with Ninewells Community Garden and discussed the creation of miniature gardens for the open day of the V&A's Garden Exhibition, Garden Futures: Designing with Nature. We were also given volunteer cards for our members which enable free entry into the Dundee Botanical Garden. Huzzah! To celebrate summer, Room to Be will be organising a social to the Botanics for the beginning of June. (Picnic anyone?)

Isn't it great to be part of something bigger?
