Free tickets to see a show at the Dundee Rep? Yes please. Big thank you to the Central Library who was handing out tickets for Inside Giovanni's Room, a contemporary dance production presented by Phoenix Dance Theatre. The narrative follows the powerful 1950s novel by James Baldwin exploring themes of sexuality, identity, masculinity, gender roles, love, guilt and self-acceptance.
Five of our members seized the opportunity for an injection of mid-week culture. Feedback on the show was, 'powerful', 'brilliant', 'quite overwhelming', 'emotional', 'intense', 'clever'. It was all of these things and more. It is always fascinating and beautiful to see how a body's movement through dance can express the scope of human experience.
